Modified there isnt much difference. V6 Vengence got 147kwatw with quite a bit of work. That was with an auto too so would be a bit higher with manual. Has anyone got more than 150 with an auto???

the v6 responds to turbos really well because the f**k things can rev to like 7 grand with out a flutter of an eye lash which helps.
but n/a they both roung the same

I wouldn't like to rev a v6 to 7 grand too often though.. they dont sound the best at those revs.

my mates supra revs pretty hard i know its a litre smaller than the falcon but it starts bouncing at 9500 and sounds awsome...thats good enough for me

Both my falcons will rev out to the rev limiter comfortably and it doesn't worry me. Doesn't seem to worry the engine either. Only thing it really bothers in the Falcon is the power curve... in that there is none @ redline.
Then again, one of my previous cars "redlined" @ 5500 RPM and I took it out to 7500 RPM regularly with no complaints. That wasn't a Falcon though. |

My car with the new cam loves the revs, it will easily rev to the rev limiter in the first 3 gears, 5700 or what ever it is.
I try not to bounce of off the limiter, but do creep it past the red in 2nd gear especially (just happens in first, revs move too quickly!). My car doesn't complain with reving that far at all. Without the rev limiter I'm sure it would love to rev to 6 or beyond, but not recommended with my cam Damn piston to valve clearance is over rated

The main problem with falcons is that the engine is extremely oversquare, meaning the stroke is alot longer (when compared to bore) than say the supra. I doubt the holden is that much better though in that respect. Losses would be a bit worse in the 6 with an extra 2 cams to turn and a harmonic balancer (I6's do not require one of these due to the fact they are a perfectly balanced engine.)
As for responding to turbocharging - longer stroke engines tend to get turbo's to spool ealier, make a larger difference in the lower RPM bracket. |

hornet - you have a dyno charge of your power curve. Since my new cam, the curve keeps rising til the rev limiter.
Dunno if I want to take teh rev limiter up a bit, and see if there's more power up there.

im pritty sure that v6 is better ballenced then a straight 6 thats why some companys use v6 engine becuase they dont shack around as much as a straight 6.

that's teh wrong way around.
V12, then I6 are the best balanced engines. others need balancers added to them to help vibrations.
