Dude it's a tickford, whether it feels like one to you or not. As has been said 5kw don't mean s**t. Are you expecting 10 second passes or something? Get over it already! Cam it, do the intake and zorst and go have some real fun

Does it have a 94DT stamped into the head to the right of the T. Behind the pully...
If not, yr screwed... If yes, you have a Ticky engine... Get over it. As has been said, considering the extra weight its pulling over a GLi for instance, that extra weight and diff will enable you to keep up, thats about it. |

from memory i think it has a number down there, all i wanted to know was how do i identify a tickford engine since its not in a xr6/8 etc.. since they have badges to tell easier, i couldnt care if it is 5kw more, just wanted to know how to identify it

that questions been answered a few times for you now, but it doesn't seem to satisfy you - T cast on front of the head and red rocker cover. |

lets see..... here's what has been said so far:
1: EF series 2 ghia's and all EL Ghia's got the tickford engine 2: the difference between a standard engine and the tickford item is the red rocker (NOT rocket) cover, and the big T cast into the front of the head, the bottom end is the same lets see what you've told us 1: you have a series 2 EF Fairmont Ghia 2: you have the red rocker cover 3: you have a T cast into the front of your cylinder head by all indications you either have a 100% genuine, original TICKFORD XR6 spec engine, or someone has changed the bottom end, but kept the tickford specific parts, either way you've got the tickford engine dont expect miracles from it, the Ghia's have a bit more weight to lug around than an XR6, plus IIRC the exhaust was different on the Ghia's which lead to a couple of kw being lost dont stress about it!
