hey all

in the process of replacing my head gasket, and since i have to get the head shaved, i decided to pull the cam out. the previous owner said it might have an aftermarket cam in it, but couldnt give specifics.

The numbers running along the shaft indicate that its the original cam, but im curious as to wether it might be a regrind, as theres a 1 stamped on the end of the shaft. Could this be an id mark from a manufacturer?

im not overly worried if its a stock, cause ill get it reground into a 977b if it is, and if its a regrind, ill sell it and get my spare cam reground to a 977b anyway.

cheers

lynx

nup a lot of the std ones came with a 1 stamped on the end of them. If its a ticky cam, it will have the A ground off and a T stamped in to it. If its aftermarket reground then it "should" have an engraving in the end to say at least who done it or what grind number it is.

Its pretty safe to assume its stock if its got no shims and its got ford part numbers on the side of it.

Ive got a new hobby now, playing with EEC's instead, I can still do the cams, but I really couldnt be bothered unless someone really wants one. Bang for your buck, you really cant go past a Wade, and they have got more profiles than I can lay my hands on

yeah Ive been playing mostly with the 5ltr EECV's, but will play with an EECIV 5ltr if it comes my way, and probably DCTodd's EB turbo 6 when I make a definition for it
