when idling the revs momentarily jump to 1000-1500 then it returns to normal for 30 or so seconds...
its an EF 6cyl auto... car has been siting for many months unstarted and had flat batt... I had another car do this and changed many things to get rid of it...ISC, TB, tps, checked earths, but in the end a hotter thermostat seemed to cure it... who else had/has seen this problem

Unplug the connector and short the terminals with a paper clip. see if that improves idle

My car use to rev up by itself as you describe. Fault code check said Oxygen sensor was reading wrong.... replaced it and all was fixed.

Hey mate have you managed to fix this? My car does a similar thing when i pull up at lights it lifts to 1200-1500, drops to 400-600 and comes back to normal.
