Lately my idle on cold is nothing short of horrible, it almost stalls, blows black smoke, when warm it steadies out, but you can still notice a slight up and down motion... this is still evident when softly revving....

Any ideas what this could be? the black smoke is worrying

Check the MAP sensor hose at the manifold, they have a habit of splitting.
Thats to start with anyway.

You'll have to jack up the car to see it from underneath. It is toward the rear of the manifold on the inside near the IAT sensor. it is hard to see, but you can feel it.

if you have a look to the left hand side of the engine bay directly inline with the mainifold , on the fire wall you will see a little black box with a plug and a hose .. folow that hose and it goes into the manifold just under a quater of the way in .. on the inside of it ... it joines up to a union thats the hose its not hard to find dude .. you may have to move some of the loom away to find it but it is there .. like i said just look for a little black box with a plug with about 5 or so wires on it and a vac hose .. cheers dude hope you find it ok

on the pic that you have provided you can see the map sensor ... have a look where your washer hose comes down and you can see the top of a little black box to the lef of it .. behind all of the loom .. have a look and youll find it mate
