hey guys,

My car has been doing some weird s**t for the past month and ive finally figured out what it was..

the car was..

a) on a cold startup it wouldent hold a steady idle, and it would hunt up and down, and stall if you dident manually keep the revs up to it.

b) whilst driving along and giving it a little bit it would break up (sound like its hitting revlimiter) from 3 to 3500rpm, after this it would rev freely through the rev range.

I tried everything to fix it, including..

a) changed leads
b) changed plugs
c) changed fuel filter
d) cleaned air filter
e) every time of "pour it in your fuel tank and it'll fix it s**t)

and it turned out all it was, was the TPS (throttle position sensor) $95.

Just thought i'd post it up, hopefully this helps someone that may have the same problem and can't find it!

Cheers,
Rob

that would have been almost the first thing i would have tested as leads, plugs, fuel and air filter dont change the idle speed. Would be more of a miss and maybe stalling when the pedal was dumped due to starving of fuel if filter was badly blocked.

Good to see you finally sorted it out... and along the way it got a good tune up. Must be driving nice now.

Well I will wait and see as I got my Auto a Full- serviced treatment when my EL was at the 195000km mark.
