After tearing of hair and raping of wallet, finally narrowed the idle issues a little

and yes, i tried to test the gasket with butane, but it was so gone it didnt matter. its a lot smoother and im going to expect better economy (wasnt too bad to start with).

Still dealing with a stalling thing just after start and a ever so slight miss & flat spot @ 3000-3700 rpm still, but happy enough for now.

(Thanks beej)

Has it fixed your power output problem you have been having????? any performance difference since engine/ECU is reading correct metered air.???

feels stronger just driving around like a sane person.

its mainly the flat spot now, that stalling thing is far less noticible now, but still niggly

The flat spot may have something to do with the BBM switching runners....

Its funny, mine was stumbling at idle when warm too. I checked the BBM bolts and they were all loose. Feels better, and idles almost perfect again.

Except, I can't reach the back two bottom bolts where the manifold attaches to the head. Tips?

Good to see you got that sorted anyway. :)

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

With the flat spotting, I assume you have tried calibrating the TPS? Or replacing it? What about trying another ECU? I can imagine it would be infuriating trying to trace a problem like that. Looks like a nice car though :D

Thanks much, its a pain keeping it clean as i cant cover it. I havent reset the TPS yet, but the resistance test looks fine. i havent had another ECU to throw at it to test that either

Have you tried replacing your iridium spark plugs with a $18 set of standard NGK plugs. Might be worth a shot at trying too sort out that flat spot...

iridium plugs don't project very far into the head compared with standard plugs(NGK etc)... This sometimes can effect the combustion in the head. Wonder why JMM uses Autolite plugs because they project along way into the head. (better burn, better bang).

I would give it a shot......

maybe not relevant to your exact problem but what the hey...

i once had this miss that i couyldnt solve until i started running different fuel....at the time (2004) i was running shell optimax (cause i thought it was the best) and yes the car did seem to go better but i got this miss that was annoying.....

turned out the fuel was fouling the plugs and went away when i switched to something else

i guess what im saying is that problems can be caused by the most unexpected of things...
