Hey guys, anyone have and ea-d with thermos fitted. If so, if your lights are on, sub beating away and stationary, when thermos engage, does your volts gauge drop down to 12 or less volts? i'm assuming there could be too much load on altenator, but if I tap accelarator and raise the revs barely enough to notice on tacho, the volts guage goes back to where its suppose to be, about 13.5-14. Is there anyway the thermo switch could switch the ISC on (like aircon on, in gear etc) and raise the rpm so that it doesnt always overload alternator?? Any input would be great.

have you got a mitsubishi (70a) alternator on it, or have you got the replacement bosch (85a)?
the thermo's draw a fair amount of juice hence your low-end lack of charge.

yeh they draw alot of current initially, and don't have a damper in the gauge like ef/el

hi
mine does the same when the thermo fans come on with the headlights on or the heater fan the volts drop under 12v .. if i have all the above on while the stereo pumping and i wind the power window down the stereo and amp cut out... im a bit woried about it but the battery hasnt gone flat yet but i think my alternator is working its a** off... |

try wiring them up correctly and you will find a 0.5 voltage driop instead of 2 volts!
It appears that it the voltage is droppping to 12 volts that the power is getting lossed somewhere, try wiring the earth back to the battery as well as the chasis.

hi
yea i tried earthing them to the battery and the relays are getting power directly from the battery.. it gets that bad when i use aircon and have the stereo on with headlights on. its on 12v but if i put the high beam on the dash lights go dim and the volts drop down to 10v . if i go further and use wipers the stereo cuts out and the engine will start to miss.. its got a 70 amp alternator. and a 440 cca battery .. im thinking of a alternator and battery upgrade.. oh and sorry about highjacking the thread.... |
