if you have a head gasket problem taking the thermostat out will do nothing you can try some chemi weld from supa cheap auto around $10 it may help and give you a little more time.

if your gunna use chemi weld it would be cheaper to pour dirt into your radiator. you would get the same result!

lol have you guys ever used chemiweld?
you supposed to dump the water after you run it at above operating temp i've used it a few times and never had it cause any blockages...

this guy obviously needs a work around so he can use the car. if chemiweld is done properly, it can buy time.

i'm a mechanic. i've seen what happens when people use chemi weld to 'buy time'
ends up blocking the wrong spot and cause cars to overheat, or when you get around to doin the head gasket it cost you more time and money because it's f*cked your hoses, water pump, radiator etc

one of the best things you can use is pepper it works just as well as chemiweld but much cheaper.
I work on trucks and use a similar product to pepper and works wonders.great for small external coolant leaks aswell |

but i agree, if you have no ther option, its really a no brainer.. if it does f**k the engine, a wreckers special for $150 isnt a huge deal

Silver Seal might do the job for a while... costs about 5 bucks from repco, comes in a small can.
