Hey guys, now I've got the exhaust side down, I need something for the intake side, I'm thinking something subtle for my EL Fairmont Ghia.
I hear the BA Falcon pipe from the airbox to the throttle body is a direct fit, and is an improvement over stock? What about the snorkel, is there a direct fit that is better than the factory item? I'd like to keep the factory airbox, so no pod filters etc. Or is it not worth doing at all, the factory stuff is fine? Thanks much guys. |

i'm pretty sure the Tickford snorkel has a larger mouth, and is much cheaper than the SS inductions equivalent. Not sure on the BA intake pipe from memory JMM did testing and the EF pipe less restrictive than the EL one.

ba intake pipe and xr6t snorkel will be the best option @ the lowest price. Yes the ba pipe fits over the throttlebody, but it isnt long enough, use a piece of intercooler or pvc pipe to resolve this.

Don't use BA pipe, use the equivalent territory pipe. Check out BenJ's EB wagon thread, it will explain why. Basically the terry pipe is more free flowing and bigger...

+1 Territory induction pipe - if you have the space. If not, go BA.

I have a BA intake on mine. Used the BA system from airbox to throttlebody, 75mm pipe to a pod filter inside an EF airbox with super bodge holes cut out on the wheelarch side. Have a feel of that side of the airbox vs the engine side next time your cars been for a decent run and you'll see why, nice and cool on that side.
Looks Factory as and feels a lot more responsive (judged by the 'seatofthepantsmeter') than the stock EF setup, which as pointed out earlier IS less restrictive than the EL/AU ones. Plus has a very nice intake 'Whoosh' sound when I stick the boot in.

Thanks guys, what do you mean by space for the Territory pipe? Link is dead.
What sze intercooler pipe do I need, do you mean the sillicon type pipe? |

Here's the link again. Don't know what I did wrong.
fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/convert-au-to-low-restriction-ba-induction-tube-part-1-t100117.html The Territory induction tube is basically the same as the BA, but it doesn't have the dents in the bottom of it to clear the intake manifold. That makes it sit higher above the engine, but it also gives it less restriction.

Alright sweet, I just ordered the Territory intake pipe from a wrecker, just need the XR6T/XR8 snorkel now.
Is this the one? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-FORD ... 43a705d1a7 |

Yep, that's a high-flow unit. It fits, but will require minor mods in an EF/EL. You will need to drill two new holes, trim the edges of the snorkel where it contacts the rad support, and may need to slightly trim the fan shroud for clearance.
There is a direct bolt-in with similarly good flow, the EL GT snorkel EFTVE 9A624A. They were available new from Ford a couple years ago, but may not be now. You can probably find one if you hunt for it. I'm sure they pop up on eBay fairly regularly.

I rang up Ford, its obsolete, so there is pretty much no chance of getting the EL GT intake snorkel, might have to go the BA one and molest it a bit.
