Hey guys. just finished fitting my intake piping from throttle body to my airbox.
heres a link to it. its by no means flashy, but its getting the job done. revs a lot cleaner and idles more stable too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6C2uf_JRvE and one of the exhaust when it was first put in. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1wuxmnJaok

looks very nice.
only thing i can pick up on is steel isn't amazing for intake due to it absorbs heat and will heat up the air to the engine, aluminum is a much better material as it doesn't absorb heat aswell as steel.

either way, it's less restrictive than the factory piping. i'm not too fussed on how long it takes to cool down. if i need to work on it when shes hot, i'll just get an old towel to cover my arm where its needed lol

yea it dont really matter if its stainless, alloy or mild steel, either one is going to get hot..
plastic is the best for keeping heat soak away, but plastic just dont look as good as metal.. |

looks preety nice.
would it matter what type of pipe was used as when the air inside it is flowing really fast so it wont get too hot anyway..

if i had my own welder (and actually knew how to weld myself....) i probably would of saved $100 in getting the steel pipes cut and welded to the correct shape. plus i had a small piece of steel for the bolt to hold it stable, and also the breather.
but it's not a bad mockup job for $150 total. silicone pipes are f**k expensive

was thinking, would i be able to paint it black with a paint that doesn't peel off with excessive heat?
my end look for the entire car is black lol

Great job. If you ever go down the blown road the steel will help you strength wise. Makes it alot easier to weld fittings into instead of having to tig alum.
Don't mean to burst your bubble though, but PlasmaMan do a BA intake pipe, 3" mandrel bend for about $110 raw aluminium. I spent an extra $30 on ebay silicone 3.25" 90deg elbow to connect to throttle, and a 3" bulge straight from pipe into filter lid. Fitted it all up to my EL. Hose clamp just wound down the 3.25" onto the 3" pipe with ease. No folds or gaps. The outside diameter of the hose was the perfect slip fit into the lid with the original rubber clamp/flange taken off. Mine's NA so it vacuum in the pipe, not boost to blow it off. I know ebay/Chinese silicone hose are crap for boosted setups but for NA intake applications they work great. |

no bubbles burst yet
but yeah, if i had the time to shop around i probably could have done it a lot cheaper and cleaner. how much are new O2 sensors btw? and where can i find it in the car so i can replace it ^.^ lol

About $100 (I got mine off ebay probably get it locally for around the same). Goes in the exhaust manifold. Get it from the engine bay (cant miss it), got a plug with black and white wires. Undo it and take it out.

mmmmm.... Bloke from fordforums.com.au with a worked ef falcon dynoed his car running a complete stock EF intake upwards of 175RWKW(SORTED--Forum name). So no real restriction with the EF dual intake piping.. Maybe the EL/AU smaller piping might suffer with big dyno readings but no one has posted these results..

even the std ef has a restrictive point just like el and au..
where the el and au has its pipe reduced just outside the airbox, the ef has its restriction inside the airbox with the bellmouth tube, so unless the ef bellmouth has been cut out it has the same restriction as the rest... |
