For general information about snorkel sizes here are 3 which are most talked about.
The smallest one is from a standard EF/EL V8, the one with the white Tickford symbol is from an AU III XR8 and the last one is from an EL GT.

Shouldnt have any probs getting an el GT/FBT snorkel, altho some ford spares are more than likely going to stop stocking/ordering them soon, if not already due to the ever growing age of the E-series.

AU likely to flow more but requires a bit of love and tenderness to make clearance for the power steering pump pulley.

Which leads me to my question Timmeh.... does the GT snorkel have an indentation in the back, like the standard V8 snorkel? Looks like GT is a fairly different shape..... maybe this naturally clears the ol' p/s pulley?

Yes it does have an indentation and easily clears the p/s pulley.

The GT/FBT also has another use - the XH longreach utes.
I have the AU ones and GT ones in Adelaide side by side for anyone interested in the conversion

interesting point . . . the tickford V8 AUIII snorkel is a perfect fit on the BA XT. I removed the stock snorkel and put this one on, and i have noticed the difference. :D it costs about $28 dollars from ford spare parts at any dealership.

I've got an AU3 Tickford one. Fits the EL fine, simply drilled new holes to mount it properly.
