the way i look at it is, if intercooling an NA worked enough it would be in place on production cars, its not that i know of...
what about heat wrap thats used for tubos normally? something like that, ceramic coating as phong said, etc etc. has anyone taken measurements of what the air temp at the snorkel is versus at the manifold? there needs to be a well planned and thought out study done to make sure it actually works, versus just thinking something will... unfortunately i dont have time or money to do something like that right now... |

Ram Air and a scoop will work wonders if a motor can utilise it.
The CryO2 system never really got off the ground because after all the ginning around of hooking it all up, the bottle lines and solenoids, for around a couple hundred more you could get some real gains from N2O. Quote: but with NO TURBO means only ambient temp enters the intoercooler.... -its not going to get any cooler IN the intercooler than ambient temp but then exit the intercooler into the intake pipes and heating up anyhows... better off sheilding the intake into the manifold or using a heat resistant wrapping on it...
To an extent Exactly. Also remembering that the air that comes in while the car is moving into the airbox, thru the inlet tract and into the motor may take a split second, especially once moving. Although even wrapping the manifold wont do much either, it wont be measurable. The inlet tract may get hot, but only enough to maybe change the air temp by at the most 2-3 degrees. A bonnet scoop straight to the throttle body is probably the go, if not a BA scoop and a secondary pipe coming up into the airbox is enough for a NA motor. Anything else is like flogging a dead horse, the gains might be minimal, but whether its worth it...

Better off going with a water injection system I would have thouugh.
I have seen aftermarket fuel coolers - someone mentioned something about them above. |

That's what I was going to suggest... water injection.. the evaporation of fine water mist lowers air temp and doesn't restrict flow at all.
from memory its somewhere around 500 for a proper setup I think. |
