Just thought id see if its worth gettin iridiums for my AU2 as they are like 18 bucks each when the standard NGK's are 18 for the 6 of em.also wanted to know if they make any sort of difference.
Cheers Dan

To be totally blunt i dont think they do jack s**t. Mates run them and doesnt do anything. Although i got the "Yeah man they are better" I still win a race as much as before though.
Dont waste your money unless you got heaps to throw around.

Yeah would look good just maybe 1 or 2 inch down nothing crazy and on stock ghia rims cant beat em... Thanks but i think the ED is ugly lol ONLY because of the colour i wanna paint it Blue mist the factory colour and same thing maybe 1-2" lower with Turbo blade rims.

Iridiums... about as much of a novelty as a K&N filter
Get them if you got the dosh, prolly wont make much of a difference in the end...... |

They arn't going to give you any performance gain.
But they do last much much longer, I've seen them pulled out of a taxi after 120,000kms and they were still working. If you run on LPG it's probably a good idea - as any hickups in the ignition system seems to cause backfires, and if these are better and longer lasting then hopefully theres less chance of backfires... |

as said, the benefits are in the longevity of the plug. the spark performance of a normal plug will really detereorate over time whereas iridiums keep sparking quite well for upwards of 100000km. if your plugs are easy to get to its probably not an issue but for cars where the plugs are a pain to get to then thats where its better to have iridiums. the ba's are a pain as they are virtually inside the motor.
cost wise there is nothing in it as you'll go through 4-5 sets of normal ones in the same amount of time. not sure whether ba plugs will fit but i noticed they were a lot cheaper than iridiums for e series for some reason. maybe because they are factory fitment. they use a denso plug too, not ngk.

NGK Iridium plugs are really exy.
The ones from Ford are a lot cheaper - I thought they were Motorcraft, not Denso? Taxi I refered to above was running Fraud ones. I've fitted NGK iridiums to my coon, as well as my old Kawasaki ZZR250 and current Honda XR250R and had no dramas. |

Try eBay. Bought 8 NGKs for my BA XR8 for $68 including postage.

If anyones interested I've got 6 NGK Iridiums sitting here to suit the XR6 4.0L SOHC motors, they were in my car for 5,000 km's. There no good to me now as Capa tell me to run some other plug with the supercharger.

Get a set of NGK's and you'll be right. Iridiums might be great but the gains will limited in any. Just like Royal Purple oil, K+n filters good things cost money. They may last longer but the gains are minimal.
