Hi,

Im gona change to the iridium spark plugs cause i hear they are the ducks nuts of spark plugs. I am putting them into my au is there anything i need to do while changing these or is it just a straight swap. Also it says not to adjust the gap on the plugs, just wondering if the gap has been pre-set on them.

Cheers

Just a straight swap. My AUII still has the factory fitted Iridiums in it at 75,000 km. Still going strong. No need to regap them.

You can get BA-XR6 Turbo ones for about $10 from ford direct....

Ive got a set, but havent fitted them yet. Be interested to see how they go. Dunno about performance - i just like the longevity!

Well the NGK-R plugs are like $2.50 a pop and you need 6 of them. Out of habbit I change mine every 10k at a cost of $15. Now the Iridiums last 160k and only cost, as above, $20 a pop, so thats $120... So with my year 2 mathematic skills, NGK-R over the same period = $240, Iridium = $120... thats twice the price...

Holly F**k, time to change plugs I spose :P

on the NGK box it clearly says not to regap them as it will destory the iridium tip or something!

When fitting them obviously oik the threads as they will be in there for yonks! personbally I remove mine every 10,000km's and clean them with electrical contact cleaner crap and reoil the threads!

I thought about it but couldnt justify the rediculous price compared to NGK-Rs...not worth it IMO
