Is the OEM iron exhaust manifold fitted to an EFII XR6 much different from the OEM iron exhaust manifold fitted to a standard Falcon 4.ltr EFII motor? Can the stock manifold be ported and polished to what ever extent is possible to achieve the same or similar result as the XR6 manifold or are they two very different castings?

They are exactly the same manifold. If you want an improvement, fit a set of exractors.
