hey mate i think you got that in the wrong order. You basically got the cam swap last and the expensive headwork first do the cam swap, only costs 130 plus a few dollars for shims and you'll be surprised how much difference it makes. No need for springs on a mild cam i removed my wade cam yesterday to be sold and put a stocko back in, and fukn what loss in power it has now lol.... first time the car has had a stock cam in it for a long time, i gotta get used to it me thinks |

a chipped computer, 4.11's, 3500 stall, shift kit not just an electronic jobbie a tru shift kit, jmm race exhaust, cai, pulling a mininmum of 240kgs out of the car, a minispool, 90/10's shockies in the front and koni adjustables in the rear, long soft springs in the front no sway bar, doing those mods should put you in the mid to high 14's. i wanted to do thoses mods to my 95 fairmont but a commodore decided to make my car look like a bannana so no go for that idea. i would deregister the car if you were to do all those mods cause it would be a real bugger of a car to drive on the street. have fun

That much crap should get you 13s! Back to serious advice here. You will struggle to do a 14.5 with an auto, but if you get a stallie and a proper shift kit (MV automatices do an exchange valve body) that will help. Get a big cam - Surecam are my favourite, but other people have good success with wade. 4.11s are good too, but you will have to either deal with a speedo that is out by like 40%, or get a speedo adjuster that only affects the cluster. Get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and cam gear as well. Take the car to the dyno on BP Ultimate, change cam timing, ignition timing and fuel pressure to get the best results and see how you go. MY EB XR6 did a 14.502 with a manual, 3.9:1 diff gears, early JMM extractors+2.5" exhaust, surecam, cam gear, CAI, and some skill - and it was heaps fun to drive on the street - very touchy, great throttle response.

For less than 6 grand, you could put a worked BF motor in the e series and get those numbers...
Fordfairmont, I just put the XR6 cam in.. I figured it would help me start the journey.. once the other stuff was upgraded I could look at the cam again.. |

bf motor wasnt part of the equation tho..
and asfar as 14.5 with an NA 6 Dc_todd was running one of the early RPD rspec1 cams in his ef xr6, manual, exhaust, no extractors, so other than the cam and exhaust it was stock and ran 14.8 so 14.5 should be much of a stretch..

could always look at NOS if all other efforts fail..
but rather do it the hard way.. more satisfying in the long run. amazing that a factory 4 door car that came out in 1971 did 14.6 out of the box. |
