Hi guys,

I want my old beast to do a mid 14 quarter time...

I don't want turbo.. but I do have an Xr6 cam, strags, custom airbox with pod blah blah.. (read my sig) all the usual stuff.

Also I plan on trying to get a 4.11:1 diff ratio..

I'm thinking all of that should get me to at least 15 secs, maybe abit more..

I notice that fordfreak ef has got 174kw at the wheels for a low 15.. but I was hoping to not go as far as he appears to have.

4.11:1 would have to be good for a big boost on the quarter surely...

anyway.. what do you guys reckon?

before anyone asks.. I want 14.5 because I want my old girl to do the quarter faster than a XY GTHO did in it's prime. (14.6)

Its just a little thing.. :-)

i think you will find that fordfreak is pulling low 14s with the 174rwkw at the moment..

Do-able.. a fair bit of work required. Expensive, but do-able.

Would 4.11 diff gears need a shift into third given the trap speed for a mid 14 second quarter mile?

CMS4 head, CMS3cam and decent Exhuast, shouldn't be a prob. 3.9 gears and a manual, plus some weight loss for the car and you will be looking at low 14's all day every day on a stock ECU

Its not that hard to do. Moderate sized cam and tune with a 5 speed can get mid 14's.

I put about 2k into my EF's engine (mild head, cam, springs, and chip) and it did 14.8 @ 95mph and it still head a 3.08 open wheeler diff.

Well before I get carried away.. I should run ultimate for a while, get the timing advanced as far as possible and get the 4.11:1 sorted.. I might pull mid 14's with just that.

Personally id only go 4.11's if I had an auto and was planning on keeping it. With a manual 3.7's will keep 1st gear usable.

If you do 4.11's you will need to adjust the input to the ECU so it doesnt overrev on upshifts, that is of course if you are going to correct the speedo, and i feel there is a chance that with 4.11's with out the speedo corrected you will hit the speed limiter.
Just something to consider.

yeah, figured I'd have to ditch the speed limiter..

interesting point though, is that even though the car won't be doing 190, the drive shaft would be still spinning as if it was, so probably have to get it balanced and a ring..

I didn't know about the input to change the upshift rpm.
