I have a difficult one for ya - we've got an XD shell with an ED engine/trans that won't start.

Got all the wiring diagrams, connected everything and had spark, fuel pump and all that but no injector pulse. Tested the ED ECU in a running EB and it would not start.

Took the ECU from the running EB and put it in the project, and got injector pulse, but no power to the coil or fuel pump. Disconnected the Black/Green earth wire and got coil and fuel pump, but no injector pulse...

Any ideas, or back to starting from scratch?

Every configuration has power to the starter and it cranks regardless of anything we try.

That was my first thought, but the EB doesn't have smartlock, and apparently the ED that the engine and wiring came from didn't either

Strange one....

EBII-on had smartlock as standard, which would make the ED a smartlock ECU

I've successfully run a pre smartlock 1DCC ECU in a smartlock EBII.

Didnt get around to swapping them back to see if the BCM from the smartlock car was going to have a tantrum, but I dont see why the non smartlock ECU wouldnt work.

The only difference between them afaik is that the later ECU would be looking for an "OK" from the smartlock module before it would let the engine fire where the earlier ECU doesnt expect it

Well the ECU that is in there now came from a pre-smartlock EB (series 1) and I can guarantee you 1000% percent it is not smartlock, and we pulled it straight from the running EB and plugged it into the project... I've done some weird Frankensteined Falcons before, and managed to get them running, but this one has me stumped :?

Question is though - does it need a BCM in order to run? As this is bare bones, and has the wiring from the ED, and ECU from the EB, but without the Trans computer or BCM - all body wiring is from the XD body loom - is there something vital that's needed from the BCM or Transmission computers to get it running?

not certain with the 6's, but I know with the V8's they dont need an awful lot of interaction, IIRC when i wired up an EB V8 ECU into a buggy there wasnt a whole lot of outside input, but that was a few years ago

I do know that it was only the ECU we used, the BCM, etc were all left in the donor car
