Hi guys!
I've got a problem with my ED falcon. Two years ago I overheated engine cause didn't realise my fan belt had broke. Yous will add: but you must have noticed battery light come on in this case. Well that's correct, but mine didn't come on cause it doesn't work at all. So I cooked the head gasket. It didn't start leaking until a few months later. I used silverseal to stop it, and it worked fine. Just until recently. In the main time I put a set of thermo fans in, and honestly it is probably best and most efficient modification you can do to ED falcon. Now, I noticed the other day that oil started leaking just under exhaust manifold. I've talked to a few people, and they found it strange that oil is leaking there instead of engine coolant. My guess is that it is the head gasket that needed to be changed a long time ago. Im thinking of doing it myself as I've seen on theese pages it shouldnt be too hard, and plus you save big bucks. The question is: Is this head gasket, or is there any other place where the oil could come from?

Are you sure the oil is from under the exhaust manifold, and not running down from the rocker cover ?

No mate. The rocker cover is completely clean. Not even a drop of oil anywhere near it. It is under exhaust manifold. I was gonna take the manifold off to see if it comes from head gasket, but I thing those gaskets shouldn't be reused once you take them off. So, what do you think? Thanx!

Was just checking, it could be possible the gasket has gone at the oil gallery, it wont affect perfromance in any way, just leak oil, like your is doing.
If you cooked it once, bite the bullet and put a new one on, there is nothing else under there to leak oil, other then a cracked block !

Not coming for a welsh/welch plug or something is it? The fans can spread oil into places where it doesnt normally come from. Id suggest degreasing the whole engine, then driving it around a bit more, and then checking to see where its coming from properly

Welsh plugs leak coolant and only coolant, not oil, if you got oil out them, oh boy is your engine screwed

Yea Andrew you are right. Finding where does leak come from can be sometimes hard. But since my rocker cover is clean same as front of the engine, and oil is leaking just under exhaust manifold, as "dellboy999" said it is 99% head gasket.
I'm going to take off of my work and do it myself. As I read AU steel head gasket is a way to go, so I guess it's gonna take a few days to fix it. I'll take the radiator to get it professionaly cleaned. Now, head need to be machined. Does anyone has an idea what's the cost of it?

Most the time its not worth getting a radiator cleaned, get it recored or straight up buy a new one.

Not true, the small welsh plugs are into the oil gallery, large ones are coolant. However Oil welsh plugs rarely fail, As they are not prone to corrosion like coolant ones are. I'd be putting my money on the head gasket.

Is that mean that my SVO falcon is special?? I'm telling you the truth. There is no oil around it. Just a little bit of dust, which I guess is normal. Hey guys, is it possible to change oil sump gasket without taking engine out of car?
