hey guys, my el has lost it's coolant out of the overflow tank, and when i started it yesterday the low coolant light came on so i put water in it for now, but was thinking of where it could have gone, the overflow bottle is a brown color where the two smaller lines join on to i, and when i was doing an oil change alot of coolant poured out onto the ground after the motor was at running temp,
Cheers |

Although, sometimes it doesn't show on the cap, and can still be blown. What's your temp like when driving around?

If you dropped the oil and water came out you head is blown . Water is leaking into the cylinder . And the coolant being a brown colour is bad. Means the block is rusting and probably all sludge through the system .
Give it a good flush with tap water . Take out the thermostat so it flushes properly . That should get all the s**t out of the system . But do that after the head gasket is changed of course .

the coolant came from the line at the top of the overflow bottle, that is s'pse to get sealed off by the cap

it's for testing purposes! and i'm limiting my spending cause i'm waiting to find out the damage for my motorbike which is getting a new big end and piston put in it, so i've got 2 grand in my band and i have 800 for my tools at work but i don't think i'll get it all to spend on my tools, if i'm lucky i might get 700, i don't even take my wallet to school so i'm not tempted to buy crap from the tuckshop

if the cap rattles in your hand? throw it and buy a new one, look in the workshop manual and get the right pressure one for the e series they f**k out fairly often but no body ever thinks to replace them they just keep topping the coolant up every few weeks
also head gasget can be pushing pressure into the system and the only sign is getting pressure in the cooling system. i had this problem in the ef, threw some chemi weld in the header tank seemed to fix it lol

When my headgasket blew it pressurized the cooling system and caused many leaks around the radiator area.
I6 isn't a hard motor to pull down. At work with my tools I can have a heAd off in like 40 mins. |
