With so many choices available these days in the way of a new cam for my beast, who should I turn to for best performance, not worried about bang for buck, looking for best power gain atm.

The toss up is between an ITS mild performance build (Maybe stage 1 or 2)
A New EL Profile Wade cam (The new profile released a few months back, not sure what the number is)
OR an ALTed Performance cam (Built for the falcon 6 apparently :P)

Or any other types of cam I havent looked into yet...
Open to suggestions here :)

It will be hard to find someones opinion that isn't biased. But you know what Hyena and myself would say.

Fastest NA I6 falcon's at the moment are generally running either wade or JMM cams.

Everyones got different cams. And everyone will tell you there's is good. Unless they got a s**t one. So I would suggest just going over different specs, and picking out what YOU need. It all depends.

Cheers

I say go with the wade :P

Nah, obviously I have an IT'S motor, but that's a complete package with a hell of alot of other work done than just the cam. I don't know if Mark is doing much in the way of supplying single cams so I can't comment on those alone but I'm sure they'd all be pretty good. I had a wade cam in my old motor and even though it was an auto stage 2 cam in manual car it still made a decent improvement and had me pulling high 14s. Joe is also doing cams now and Yobo is about to try the one he put in yesterday at the dyno day, maybe see what sort of result he gets down the strip.

I'd say go for a ride in a few cars with different cams and see how they feel, but it seems your freak engine is making around the same as alot of cammed engines anyway!

We should start another database type thread with who's done what mods step by step and what dyno or quarter mile gains they made.

Well as is my 'freaky' engine is putting out the same as an ITS stage 2, I need something that will expand on what its got at the moment without stepping it back down the scale.

As for different cam specs I have no idea what im looking at/for or what each will do for me.
Just something that will give it a deeper note and a nice power gain, bit more accel would be nice :)

I will have to talk to mark @ ITS when I get a chance, see what we can work out :)

Just call each one, and talk to each person, then make up your mind. That way you will be going off what they have told and explained to you. Not 2nd opinions.. you know.

Cheers

biased but ALTED are a damn good cam.. put it in no hunting needed to be shimed about 2 mm but talk to the guys who have put in the hours creating the cams.. they can tell you more info than you will ever need to know.. again talk directly to the creator..

buy the cam not the sales pitch.

Ace ..my advice to you is do the cylinder head first!! Be aware to get the right advice first though. A good cylinder head, with new guides ,oversized valves and a good port job should satisfy your performance needs as a start.

Most peole look at cams for an answer. The answer is not in a cam but how good the engine is. To get the best performance out of a six this in my opinion is the way to go.

All of the cams for the six will give good power increases with the head done properly.

A fully ported head with the stock cam will not give much of a performance gain, a good cam to suit is required (It is sort of like changing the headers on the car but leaving the standard exhaust)
But yes ideally the head should be done at the same time as the cam is put in to maximise the result. Not all cams will give a good result with a ported head.
IMO a cam is a better place to start, but you would need a cam that will work well without headwork.

Without a good head the cam will not work at its best.It has to be a marriage for the best of both worlds.
