I can definitely suggest our 3000 rpm converter, it will work very well. I can also recommend the dev5 cam and retune your J chip to get that right. Drag times are not about all out power figures as you may have come to understand. You need to get power from the start line all the way to the finish line. I would also suggest the 3.9 diff ratio as it will suit what you are doing You'd think that email was either a template or written by a man who tries to get anyone through th door then sting them with prices after its too late to back out. |

Very interesting, I don't think anyone had been able to get billets for a while as they all get them off the same supplier in the US, I could be wrong though. Regardless, if there is another batch of billets coming in I want to get my hands on a few.

I wouldn't personally touch JMM, Way to many rattly chains caused by the cam. Regrinds are s**t anyway. Having HLA's spaced out of the rocker arms buy shims just doesn't leave a good feeling in my stomach. Seen to many broken rocker gear.
Look into http://www.camtechcams.com.au/ I ran a mild cam from them, Wow my car with 3.08's was as quick to 100 as a falcon with 4.11's. EA-EL Cam CT006 846 - Wicked cam 1500-5000.

Thats the cam I'm looking at, that would best suit for an off the shelf item.....I asked Camtech about a custom touch to this grind, but have no answer, been nearly 7 days now.

my apologies about the jim mock billet thing.
when i spoke to him he said the wont touch my current cam, so i assumed they use billet rather then regrind but i guess i was wrong. i asked a fellow who had jim do one for him and he said the cam he uses is a new standard cam, regrind-ed to his specs. iv had a regrind for yonks with no problems, but reckons mock told him cams are only strongest on their outer core, regrinding it will expose weaker metal, so when going regrind its important to use a new cam with no wear and tear.. can anyone/mechanic confirm this or is it a case of bs???

I have have a street fighter engine built by jim mock in vic installed in my 1995 ef ford auto, the engine has a dev 4 cam kit and the motor idles like crap and surges until 1500rpm or so and runs fine for the remainder of the rev range until it drops below 1500rpm again coming to a stop. This engine behavour only started since the engine install.
theres no smoke, all eletronics replaced under the hood / except ecu, all timing set correctly, vacuum lines all connected/no leaks. i have been advised a 1500.00 + ecu piggy back system could resolve the problem.??? problem could also be a low vacuum due to the cam and that a well placed vacuum canister could also help the vacuum reserve or something like that. Any ideas please????????? 1995 EF GLI Ford Sedan Street Fighter 6cyl with Dev 4 Cam Kit Pacemaker Comp Headers Redback 21/2 sports exhaust |

A vac canister or tank would be a relatively cheap thing to try. Next up would be to forget such an expensive piggy back ecu & get a J3 with a good dyno tune. More than a few ppl are running J3 chipped ecu's with big power numbers....
Cheers ToranaGuy
