TROYMAN wrote: look at the cam and between the lobes is there a p/n eg.. 94daxxxxx or 94dtxxxxx if there is anything like that its a re ground cam... if your not sure post up a few pics of the cam, Well...that isn't quite true.....I have a billet Crow cam, and it has that on it (94DAXXXXXX). And, on a Tickford cam, they (Ford) grind the 'A' off and stamp a 'T' in its place......seen it with my own eyes.

Hmmm. I'm not too worried, but as I said, I don't want to put a re-grind in without shims.

I'll need shims. I'm not fussed. But the question stands, 977b, or JMM DEV 5 Cam? Which one will perform better? Here is a comparison of the specs; Profile No: DEV-5 Lobe Lift: IN-263/EX-263 Timing Ad Open Close:IN-69-20/EX-22-65 Duration @.050: IN-219/EX-219 Valve Clr: HYD/HYD Valve Lift: IN-0.525"/EX-0.525" Lobe Sep: 114 Profile:977B Lobe Lift: Ex .256 In .256 Timing Ad: IN:64-20 EX:22-62 Duration @.050: 206 206 Valve Hyd Hyd Valve Lift: .512 .512 Lobe Sep 112 On those facts; Which cam is better by the specs stated? Cheers!

MRESP8 wrote: Since when were the JMM Cams billit? All regrinds i thought. I thought JMM cams were all NEW billets and then custom ground to their secret specs. I also assume they do not ground the base circle down thus no extra shim required. I am sure that Crow Cams and Kelford Cams re-ground EA saloon cars camshafts and do not touch the base circle thus no extra shim required. The specs looked like this Kelford 1/49 49/1 -14/34 34/-14 230/230 200/200 0.4840 0.4840 114 Crow SCA3900 9/53 55/7 -13/31 33/-15 242/242 198/198 0.4900 0.4900 113 Now since when has anyone seen a cam with adv duration of 230 or 242 deg. I assume that this is the max grind you can get via reshaping the existing lobes and only taking a bit off the base circle. Compared to the current Wades I believe they take more off the base circle to get a better profile thus needing the extra shim. Does this make any sense to any one ??? |

there are no billet cams & may never be anymore billet cams made for the i6 sohc motors.........there is only ony company in Australia thats trying to get them but I was told there may be some issues with this, plus the fact that the demand or volume isnt there so its still an unknown thing.....
just to let you know that my stage 3 is bigger than both of them anyway.... |
