G'day, I'm tossing up between the JMM race series or the Pacemaker Comps. Does anyone have any of these, and is there much of a performance increase?
Do you think i would notice a difference in low down torque and power?

the pacemaker comps are designed for mid to high rpm power im pretty sure, not sure about the JMM design, have a look at there website.

Do you think i would notice a difference in low down torque and power? I have a set, (pacemakers comps) and yes they did increase power from mid to high, and also helped with the std engine to pull higher up the rev range. And that was just seat of the pants stuff.....was definatley noticeable.

ok thx for your replys, if they are giving you more power at mid-high range does that mean there is maybe a loss in low end power?

I haven't noticed that, I think bottom end is a bit better than it was. Depending on surface finish, the 88EA will chirp/spin the wheels on hard accel, has 5sp, 3.27LSD, MPFI, original 178,000k's 3.9 engine., in 1st and is fitted with B'stone Eagers 235/60R15's. Figure from that???

Did it feel like it pulled harder when you gave it to it, or didn't notice it much?

I'm in a similar position, but was deciding between pacemaker 4499's and 4480's. People keep saying the smaller secondary's are better etc.. the main difference is they are 6>2>1 (4499) Vs 6>3>1 (4480).
So the smaller pipes are collectively offering a bigger flow as there are 3 x 44mm, rather than 2 x 48mm! Does anyone have dyno results of before and after with just exhaust mods? JMM series or Pacemakers? |

i want power all the way through the rev range, i got an auto and a 3.08 diff, so low range would be good so i can get off the line quicker. but i want power all the way through

If you still have the stock exhaust manifold, its only gonna help.

Very different design. The JMM race series are like the old pacemaker comps - 6-2-1 with narrow primaries and very long secondaries. The current pacemaker comps are a 6-3-1 tuned length configuration.
I have heard as many people say they prefer one as the other. Other than the sound (which is very different) there probably isnt all that much difference between them performance wise. If you believe what JMM say, he claims to have tested the pacemaker comps and claims that although they made the same power on the dyno the race series are 2/10s quicker down the 1/4. I spoke to someone who had run both on his car and he said the pacemakers were noticably better on road and made 5rwkw more on the dyno. who do you believe? As I said, I dont think there is much in it. I would still go the pacemakers

I went down to the local exhaust shop and he quoted me $560 for the Pacemakers comps and $710 fitted. does that sound a bit steap to you?
