Is it safe to use standard jumper leads to either give or get a jumpstart on my EB1. Will this stuff my ECU or other electrical components? Can the special jumper leads with the supressor be used or are these a no-go?

You can use standard leads no prob, just make sure you connect them up the right way. I,E dont corss connect actice and nutrual. hook the car thats doing the jumping first then the car to be jumped next

With the car thats being started, dont connect both leads to battery....have positive to battery and the negative to a sucure ground on the motor....ie the hook that u'd use to left the engine out....usually next to head...clear as dogs balls
Less risk of computer damage that way

Thanks guys, I'll keep my old leads in the boot and if needed connect up the way hellbent describes.
What about other EFI computer controlled cars. Can I give a jump start to all other cars? |

These pretty much explain the solution yes you can use normal lead just use these proceedures.

As most have already stated: positive to positive then ground to ground (engine mount or similar) ground running car last with headlights on to absorb any spikes.
