my 1992 eb crunches in a gear... like il be going slow as... going into second it just sits in the middle... and then just jumps in when the reves r high... what does this mean? is my gear box f**k?

possibly, i'd start by giving it a service, then look at more major things. When you get it serviced if you've got metal chunks.. i'd be looking into a manual for it.. lol also check the level of the fluid as if a tiny bit is missing this will cause the box to go haywire.

S5solinoid usually goes on the later model box's not sure if EB would be the same, but this also causes it to snap into gear

sounds like a low fluid level.

Sorry not true, The S5 went on my EA & my EL, I was told it is common on all 4 speeds.
