On and around the injector it does look like engine oil - whether some may have come into contact due to the close proximity of the dipstick?
Ever driven the car without the dipstick? I would be inclined to give the engine bay a decent clean first, then once dry - baby powder over the injector (it should cling) and monitor any further oil creep. It actually looks like oil on the air box too. Perhaps the bonnet lining is saturated and making contact?

Dudes, been away for two days, so sorry to bring up a now old thread. But what is my best course of action before visiting a mechanic? How, and what do I need to degrease that injector? Directions would be nice. As always, thanks a bunch-a-bananas.

As everyone else has stated degrease the engine. go to your local supermarket and pick up a few cans of degreaser. Should probably be no more than $2 a can. While your at it clean your whole engine. better to do when the engine is cold. Spray the degreaser everywhere, and on the effected areas. Leave for about 5 mins so it can soak. Then get the hose and just rinse off. Easy. If the marks come back do what the others have suggested and change the o rings on the injectors. Do the lot while its all out |

Hose down my engine?! Think I'll need more detail for that, sounds dangerous as all hell. Places to avoid? Places to hose?

Last time I washed my engine bay I pretty much sprayed degreaser all around the engine bay but kept it away from the distributor and electrics. Your car has a coil pack. It is where all the leads are conected to give it spark. Apart from that you can spray it on anything. And then just rinse it off easy. Maybe some other members might have some coments. |
