Yeah you're still being ripped. Unless it's all stainless steel.

Unless its a stainless steel system tell him to get f**k.
Mild steel should cost you about $950.

Reasonable price for stainless steel, not great but.

Dunno about VIC, but here in the ACT site sponsor 'RoadWay Mufflers' will do all that and a chrome tip for $900.

BTW: unless you're cat is f**k, there's no real need for a highflow.

joint in Melton (dunno how far you are from there) called Taylah Made Exhausts

awesome guys there, done a few of my cars... and im about to get a new system in the EB once the engine is in...

ive been quoted on XForce stainless polished extractors, Magnaflow Cat, 2 straight through mufflers and a 2 1/2 inch stainless mandrel bend cat back

and thats $1160 fitted. not bad in my own beliefs, mind you, im getting two mufflers, not the one... so if i was going one muffler, it would be slightly less, around $1000 for a full stainless system

wow, a mate of mine got his Red-back cat-back, one muffler, for $250, but got quoted the same for th two muffler sys, the guy said that both tail pipes cost the same.

$350 for a hi flo cat, hope its really super.

i run hi-tech headers and have found them to be really good, but i paid a fair bit less for them.

i think it is tim you shop around. because you could save enough money to afford a decent cam, if you do.

you dont need a hi flow cat, the ford standard one is good enough, it would have to be a huge cat to make any difference with power.

u dont need pacey comps either, i have a set of the normal ones in my fairmont and they seem better in my car then my mates car that has the comps, a lot more down low power, the comps seem to lack that a bit

now i think about it you got a quote for the same setup that i am runnning, except the piping (mine was hand made, wanted a different note).

it would be a great set-up for you, i do recomend the hi-tech extacors, as i hav a set, (thier not equal length tho, but i hav gas so i cant run comps) and that guy is right, they do have long secondarys.

hunt around with the same quote, and see what you get.

good luck

I tend to disagree with that comment. I have tried the modified ford cat, then a hollowed out cat, then fitted a Hi-Flow 2.5in MEGAFLOW CAT and the difference was huge. Like fitting another set of extractors and the exhaust note sounds wicked.

cheers Luke.

Do you have numbers?

I ask only because, talking to (site sponsor) RoadWay Mufflers. They recommended against it (why? it would've made them more money) saying the stockie flows more than enough for a 2.5" system, and should only be replaced if it's dead, or you're doing something bigger - turbo / 3" system etc.
