try a couple of nuts first but if that doesent work just use the grinder and take a little off both sides so you can use the shifter

sorry if i sound stupid, but the sensor unbolts straight out of the motor? all that is left is a hole? Or is there a smaller thread screwed into the larger hole in the block?

Epic fail , Mine does not have a stud its just an M8 bolt it comes straight out of the block with the sensor and leaves a smaller hole, so i looks like im going to have to go with the "adapter" idea like alfy did.

Hey sorry for the delayed response. The car has been on the road 3 weeks now. Done 3000km lol runs very well, Need to run it on 95RON though pinging is a slight issue with 91. but it returns between 7-8L per 100 on the highway usually around 7.5L and town 10.5-11L so im very happy with it, Very torquey too, if i punch it off the line is spins 2 wheels lol not that i inteded it to do that, I did 1 mod to the induction i removed the belmouth restriction for the airbox.

Hi edfairmont4.0. Glad to hear it all went well. My AU donk was a series 2 so had the same drama as you with the knock sensor. I realised that the AU sensor wasn't compatible with the EF/NF ecu so didn't even attempt to fit it. Made an adapter but I'm also having pinging issues using 91 octane unleaded. Experienced this last week when my lpg tank was in the shop being pressure tested (10 years since install). Probably explained by the higher compression ratio of the AU engine. Runs really well on LPG as it has a higher octane rating. I have noticed that I consistantly get 50-60kms more with the AU engine than the old EF donk (on lpg). Very happy with the conversion and not a single leak from anything on the engine.

I think i get less milage on LPG than the old ef motor but a improvement on the petrol side of it,
but AU motor is a much better motor than the old EF so glad the coversion was done. Glad your up and running now edfairmont4.0 you will have noticed how much better the motor is than your last one. {USERNAME} wrote: Maybe a good idea to do dot points of what u did and refer to page numbers so ppl can see pics Thats what this thread is Micky and has pictures as well |

Sorry i mean do dot points on the first page first post so its much quicker to understand it all.
I wonder why no one has done a tech doco like Troyman for EF/EL as yet??? simple and easy to understand Ive read a couple AU to EF/EL conversions and a little confussed as some ppl done things differently with sensors and front acc dressing

Excellent thread guys. Just about to put an au2 into my EF . You have covered everything. One thing I thought worth mentioning is that they moved the coolant temp sensor to the back of the head on the AU, because that's where it gets most hot. The temp sensor on the EF thermostat housing would read too low a temp, so the back of the head would get a bit too hot. That's what i read somewhere anyway, and it makes sense. So I think it is a good idea to rewire the EF temp sensor wires to use the AU sensor at the back of the head.
