this is confusing...
SV u used the AU alt and EF AC yes? the spacers are for the AC comp bracket yes (or does the AC bolt straight to the block)

We are not talking about the alternator. we are talking about the spacers that the aircon pump go through to bolt your air con pump to the block. The AU block is not the same in that area where the aircon pump bolts on. It is raised in an area, so in order to have your EF aircon pump in the right position you need to cut the spacers. I am surprised you bolted it on without noticing mate because if you bolt the top ones on first the spacers are too long to fit in the gap they are for. |

Hi all, Josh the Au belt is longer than the Ef belt i bought both at the wreckers and the Au belt is longer and went right on my Au motor with the Ef Compressor and the compresser without any alterations to the spacers runs in a perfect line.
However when using the AU gearbox as well you have to change the gearbox cross member to the Ef so the holes line up. Bloody fuel rail petrol lines i should have put them on when the motor was out i had a hell of a time trying to get my big hands in to do the clamps up so ended up taking the fuel rail out and doing them up. |

Hi All just thought i would let all know the Au motor runs like a dream even sounds like a Au now lol and thanks to Go Getta as well for the Sensor cam advice looks like i got it in right first time so thanks for you help.
I ended up having to take my ef extractors off the AU motor as they wouldnt seal properly even after buying a extractor gasket which was i thought useless it wasnt much thicker than the original gasket so ended up putting the original manifold on then had to change the sensor to suit. I have to admit though the swap as easier than i thought it would be and boy am i happy with the outcome i took it into brisbane markets this morning for a run its about an hour and 10 mintues from where i live and it didnt miss a beat the only hippcup i had was i first of all had to be towed to the nearest LPG station as i ran out of gas washing it this morning lol. So again thanks to all who gave me advice and hopefully i can return the favour one day Cheers Alan Attachment: This is my next project restoring this old girl a SV1 Valiant one of two i have my son bought this one for himself but lost interest after he stripped it so sold it to me but they dont make like this old girl anymore |

Great to hear it all went well SV-Valiant. I have used XR-Lane's excellent build thread as a guide for my own AU into NF swap. I have just finished regasketing my AU engine and I have no more excuses not to fit it. I did a few things a little different with my swap. I bolted the EF alt bracket to the AU engine by drilling and taping holes into the block where the original holes went. I also modded my sump rather than K frame. I have included a couple of photos of my engine just waiting for me to fit it. I was going to mod my aircon spacers but I'll try them first before cutting the top ones.
