I'm thinking of buying a K&N panel filter.
Do K&N air filters really make much of a performance difference compared to the standard paper filters?

i have one, worked better, but i read somewhere that they get MUCH less effective if you re-oil them.

Changed into 2nd later? I doubt it. I'm not sure if i want to get one or not, I have the Typhoon intake setup on the way to replace my standard one, But I don't know if these filters will make a difference. |

Do K&N air filters really make much of a performance difference compared to the standard paper filters? If you clean the windscreen, real clean with Windex, you will get a simillar performance increase. |

I find it gave me more performance in the bedroom when I didn't buy one.
Save your $$$ use a paper one.

OK. I've just committed myself to eBay for a filter. Over time it should pay for itself.
I'll see for myself if there is any performance increase, especially as i'm getting my Pacemaker extractors on Friday. Any hassles in washing or reoiling the things?

They are good, will pay itself off over time. The service kits are about $25, and you should get about 5+ services out of it (re-oiling lasts even more).
I let the cleaner penetrate for 5min, then wash from the inside - out with warm - hot water. Should come up light grey. Re-oiling, just light spray's until it's the light pinkish colour. Try not to saturate it.. Enjoy |

Does the oil get into the throttle body and clog it at all?

It wouldn't clog the TB, prolly wouldn't hurt it - most cars have a breather which lets a tiny bit of oil back in through the inlet, in turn may keeps things slightly lubed and friction free.
I guess too much oil on the filter will reduce its flow efficiency. It's purpose is to collect dust/dirt and stop it from commin thru. |
