Do K&N Panel Filter or Pods make that much difference ? I have read so much about them and cant see how they would... I have pulled the air filter out and ran the car (not moving just sitting in the Drive way) and rev'ed the car and there was no difference in the rev responce. If you think they are that good let me know... have you had a dyno test done ? what is the Kw change if any ? sorry to sound like a toss but at over $100 for one i thought I would get the feedback from you Dudes first....

I've dropped a k&n panel in mine, sitting in the driveway your not gonna see much of a visible difference in throttle response,
I do notice a response, albeit not huge, but the engine does respond better, it definatly breathes alot better, it used to get asthmatic towards the top end, no its getting plenty of air even durring high revs, personal choice in the end, mostly piece of mind for me, I run em in both my ef xr6 and my wifes 2002 astra, in the astra the difference is huge, the s**t filters that come standard in them is the equivelent to a wet towel...

but seriously, if your car is stock as a rock then i dput the money towards an exhasut or some other mod. im runninng a k&n in the ed an too tell you the truth i have not noticed a change weather it be fuel consumption, performance, nothing at all. also ive got the XH snorkel thingy too

take it out of the manufacturers box to get better performance.
also a set of full sick shopping list mods on the front doors are good for 5kw for every recognised brand and up to 10kw for obscure ones...
ignore me.. I gotta go to bed....

If you don't have the money spare there not worth it. I didn't notice jack different, and the recharge kits cost more than a normal filter - lucky that one kit lasts numerous cleans.

K&N filters should not be looked at as a power adding 'mod'

they are only a washable filter, nothing more.
like frank said it will pay for its self over say a 18 time frame and then it is saving you money

keep in mind, though, that by decreasing the resistance of the air filter, you have a pay off between less resistance to air flow and more foreign particles getting through the filter causing wear to the engine. and this has been proven by tests done. there is a thread a while back on that you might want to do a search for.
I suppose reduced engine life from it sucking in ton's of dirt isn't a concern for you, then go the k&n and enjoy the fuel economy and possible power increase.

Pffft, people who say they can notice a difference by swapping from a paper to k&n/bmc air filter need to see a shrink lol imho!
I didnt notice the slightest difference when swapping over, BUT this didnt both mer as it wasnt the reason i swapped to the k&n!

It is not about this "unleashed power" you will get from it, coz honestly its not gonna be felt or seen; it is however about the long life span they have over the traditional paper filters which you go thru every service saving you money in the long run so long as the car is kept long enough!

People saying they get better econ/engine response form an air folter, par-leeeeeese, you are the people who buy them due to others saying s**t like "i got 10kw from a k&n mate!" and have the sticker on their car showing they have "x" brand filter lol; when in all reality you know you didnt notice any difference and dont wanna admit the thruth that if you buy it for added power, youve been sucked in!

Sorry if this sounds harsh or slagging to "HP filters" but its truely not, its the truth from an unbiased k&n user who still used the product, but for the real reason they are an advantage over the stock fitment.
