Hey,

i just put in a BMC Filter into my car!! You dont really notice much more horsepower, kws etc But the fuel economy is so much better due to them breathing easier!!

I'm happy and i have noticed after 5 tanks its getting prob between 50 -100 kms more - dependant on where im driving (freeway, around town etc)

Where as some others will disagree!!

Maybe you mean K&N not K & S? And you won't notice much at all. Probably nothing, or at least I didn't.

Ya thanks K & N. Thanks for you replies. So do you think it is still worth buying one?

If your planning on modding your car why not? $100 bucks is a cheap mod (going back a year ago I'd disagree, but now it is). I mean compared to a set of whee;s ($1500), extractors ($500ish), exhaust $250ish), $100 doesn't sound bad. Besides a new paper filter'll cost you $15.00 next time you service the car! But if your buying it for a huge increase in performance don't bother...

think about it? a 1 off $100 filter and a service kit $20 once a year or $20 for a filter every 3 months

K & N say the reason why they increase horsepower is because they offer less restriction to the airflow....so to check that 'less restriction' means more power try removing you aircleaner element and go on a short run - not on a dusty road. If you notice more power then K & N filters may be worth it. Some have suggested that 'less restriction' means 'less filtering'.

spider - why a filter every three months, surely you wouldn't be doing that dusty/dirtier driving ?

depends on how many K's you do, but the argument is still the same, either pay the $20-30 for a service kit that will do half a dozen or so services, or spend the same amount several times over for a paper filter

Info:

K&N = filters dust particle to 45 microns. 25% less restrictive= $120-145

Uni-filter = filters dust particle down to 4 microns. 24% less restrictive= $60-79 100% AUSTRALIAN MADE

paper filter = filters to 30 microns 2% more restrictive= $10- 20

*any thing above 15 microns will cause engine damage.

BMC = probably less restrictive then K&N & UNI-filter at the expense of less filtration. do not really know til someone do a interpendent test on them.
