can anyone tell me the disadvantages about keeping the auto ecu after a t5 conversion, im about to convert my ED XR6 to manual and I may keep the auto ecu until I can find a XR6 manual ecu, is there any probs with the car going into limp mode? I know it will hang onto the revs that fraction longer but that is no prob, and ive heard of the resistor trick, but is that only for EF/EL?
any help will be greatly appreciated |

you can use the auto ecu without any probs..
if you dont use the resistor the revs will hang but the engine will run fine. also you need to bridge the park neutral switch from the auto so the engine will start. the resister trick is there to make the ecu think its in neutral and stops the revs from hanging.. |

converted my EBII to a t5, i had to rewire the inhibitor swich and the reverse switch to suit the auto's plug configuration. but i had no probs with limp home mode at all.

quick question, my mates got a EF with a manual conversion and he says when the ISC is plugged in he'll rev it up and it takes ages to come down to idle again,
would this be because the ECU trick hasn't been done right? he's got quite a rough idle at the moment which could be a number of things which I think it mainly cause the ISC isn't plugged in. thanks |

thanks for all your help guys, just another question, I have managed to find manual ecu for my conversion, my question is do I need to mod any other wiring components on the car to get it to start with the manual ecu, or is it just a case of swapping the ecu's and your off?
