thats not the graph for the 500hp head... that one in the graph is good for 350hp... it needs to flow 325cfm

i'd say you've de-bunked the myth then. Check the autospeed article on porting an AU head. There isn't that much flow available from the head in the first place.

CNC porting essentially just equalises the porting from cylinder to cylinder, they still have to be hand finished. KEC even mention a pair of CNC heads versus a first class port job and cite that its only marginally different. Also you need to check very closely what flow at what lift. The lift available on a flow bench may not be possible in the real world as a result of rocker geometry or spring limitations or even the depth of valve reliefs in the piston crown.

Flow doesn't equal HP kiddies.

just something to think about.

The biggest SOHC head I have seen made 412hp on the bench, and knowing what it took to get that my feeling is that 500hp is not possible from a factory casting.

mayby they CNC'ed a new head from a slab of alloy ;)

stock standard, do u no where that head was manufactured??? im very interested to c wat it is like in comparrison to kostecki's "500HP" head...

correct, flow does not = HP, but 230cfm does not = 500HP

The 412hp head (started as an AU) was done privately.

230cfm certainly isnt anything to brag about on a I6 head. Any half decent worked I6 head will make around the 250CFM mark.

ya going back a long time there hey aaron, GMdestroya... i remember that guy on fordforums.com years ago, he always had lot of outrageous things that he was going to do.. but somehow it turned out that nothing eventuated and he disappeared from the forums

his head was the one that was used in the making of the autospeed article wasnt it??

thats enough proof 4 me then....just sounds like kostecki hav just lost my $3400......a company that says they can produce a potential of 500HP from a 4L falcon head but cant produce any sort of flow data or test results an evidence to back their claim doesnt earn my money....even if they do have th biggest an best new workshop.....lol

No, I don't have a flow bench, but have had a head tested on one after doing it. It was a pair of 308 Red heads with L34 valves and they flowed 480hp, and the guy doing was impressed.
I just go with the flow, pardon the punn. I hate doing them, they take so long, took about 10hrs.
