wasnt sure where to put this post... but anyway.
how much percentage loss is there when calculating kw and rwkw. if a car produces 164kw at the fly, how much would it be at the wheels... and if a car was pulling 126rwkw, how much would it be at the fly. im assuming there would be a difference in manual and auto as well. hope this makes sense cheers

it isnt exact, but alot of people have said
30% loss on auto 20% loss on manual now i think that changes as mods go on and stuff? and its not exact, just an 'guestimate'

I believe that it isn't a set percentage but rather a set power figure. If your car loses 40kW through the drivetrain when it has 140kW, I reckon it'll still lose 40kW when it has 200kW!!!
And I reckon 40kW is about right for our falcons too, probly 30-35kW for manuals. |

G'day
I agree after having my car on the rollers it turned out 72.5 in 4th (t5). so add the 35 and that works out to be 107.5 at the fly. Ford reckons standard 250 crossflow carby should be 105, the only mod is extractors. Cheers

so if the standard ef/el xr6 are 164kw at the fly... it should mean that its roughly about 125+rwkw?
if u look at jmm dev 2 kit, it says for the mods its 125kw at the rear wheels. OR does it mean that the figure can be greater than 125rwkw (so could be 130+ if its xr6) am i on the right track or have i missed something.. cheers!

JMM can't gauruntee you 125rwkw. It's different for every car, but on average the XR6's should have a little bit more power.

every dyno is different when it comes to rwkw figures, when ure getting ure atw figures u have to take into consideration power lost through drivetrain and also weight.

How does weight affect a dyno reading? Unless you're losing traction on the dyno I can't see how.

JMM will be quoting gains over and above a standard I6 engine, not the XR varient. If you've already got an XR, then the JMM kit probably won't make much difference to power output at all untill you go a DEV3 or above. |

A dyno reading at the wheels already takes into account the power loss through the drive train since the power has to be transfered through the drive train, to the wheels for the dyno to get a reading. |

It doesnt. I ran consitant figures in my wagon with a 4L engine in the back, and without (all 6 runs within 3RWKW)

In high end applications there are weight issues, not directly but more indirect such as traction, v8capri's Group A gets much better figures with about 4 fat bastards in the back seat, for obvious traction issues.

how would the dev3 and dev3hl affect fuel economy... im willing to sacrafice a bit but would still want reasonable economy.
