basically i need a 2.5inch cat
hollowing one out is not a possibility as im on my p's
ive narrowed it down to 2 off of ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/200-CPSI-METAL-CATALYTIC-CONVERTER-HIGH-FLOW-ROUND-CAT_W0QQitemZ110348898449QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item110348898449&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Polished-High-Flow-Metal-2-5-CAT-CATALYTIC-CONVERTER_W0QQitemZ250367601423QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_Parts_Accessories?hash=item250367601423&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A1%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

the only difference between the two is one is 200cells per inch and the other is 150cpi
race spec ones are 100cpi but are out of my price range

my question is is the 50 less cpi worth paying $35

is it worth it?

any help appreciated thanks

Firstly, not being allowed to hollow a cat has nothing at all to do with your licence, your not allowed to do it full stop, ITS ILLEGAL.

Now, is your cat stuffed? If your not got big a** power then upgrading to one of those rubbish ebay "high flow" cats is pretty pointless. The ford ones flow fine.

$0.02c

Why do you need a new cat?

the ONLY reason to ever need a new cat for an I6 falcon is because the old one is stuffed.
They flow plenty. USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU THIS, THERE HAVE BEEN ALOT OF THREADS O THIS IN THE PAST.

im hoping around 180rwkw after the rebuild so id like to get one thatll be good enough for then
at the moment my extractors are 2.5" outlet and the cat back is 2.5" so id like to get a 2.5" cat i was just asking what the oppinion was on the different cpi

SO why then, when i just did a search for "cats" in the 6cyl section, did this thread turn up at the top of the page. By the bottom of the page it had gotten to the sticky thread about 6cyl mods.

If you had read that thread it would have helped you too. or are the stickies broken too?

if id have spent 15mins looking through id have found a handful of threads that answer your questions.

Yes, but it would be no where near as ego inflating.

Mate i don't know any hard numbers but thinking of it theoretically, the 150 cpi has less holes per inch than the 200cpi. This would mean that the holes would be bigger, so should mean that it will flow more cfm. Screw it, if you got the money just buy the 150 and be done with it.

Search is not working properly.

That is clearly stated in the search function, it's also in red but you were still incapable of spotting it.

Great input there, atleast tickford_6 managed to actually address the issue in the thread. If you made a technical contribution and then day in and day out witnessed the same question being asked you may understand why he asked him to search.

In saying that I have never heard of the brand Bosex or whatever the "150cpi" brand one is, so I would be skeptical about buying their s**t off ebay. Zetti is ok (more known for their ridicuously sized milo tin mufflers though).

I'm pretty sure you could just get a 2.5in Magnaflow or any other decent brand cat for under $200 easy from any exhaust shop (I paid $160 for mine but was buying full system), which will be cheaper than paying postage on a quoted "high flow" cat and will provide piss all difference.

I have a bosex 3inch exhaust on my turbo car, the quality is good i must say. The rear section required no modification to bolt straight up although i needed to modify the front section as it was a v8 exhaust, but for the money including modification the exhaust cost me half of what it would from an exhaust shop. From memory there made in N.Z.
