Hey lads, how was ur saturday? mine was great, finally got around to pulling the head on the EF to give her a clean up, shes getting ported and a new cam, while im in there im gonna replace the lifters, valves and rockers, just want to know how much would this stuff cost to buy through ford, Eg how much for a set of lifters? xr6 vavles and rockers, id ring em myself but well....there not open and dont really wanna wait till monday.

lifters are about 12 to 15 each
your rockers will be fine 41mm valves anything from 20 to 40 each depending on what you get. you need new guide for the valves to as no one seems to make the right stem size for any the pre AU guide are about 6 each |

why replace it with stock s**t? check out www.yellaterra.com.au
also, those sized valves arent much good for the top end horses, dont expect too much past 5000rpm! why dont you blueprint the head? and how bout a safe 11.1 compression since you are using small valves!!! some mad velocity those ports will get! and some cool bottom end torque.....NOW its starting to sound sweet

what would be a good sized valve? looking to have alot of up and go lots if tourqe etc, different sizes make a difference?

blueprinting is getting everything exactly the same size/weight/flow....eg. you measure each individual port, and equalise them (making them have the same capactity in CubicCentimeter's, make every valve the same weight, every spring the same weight, every spring the exact same tension, every chamber with same compression, etc, etc...its some really heavy s**t you can do, at the end, you will have a more consistent motor and better fuel economy since everything is balanced....its really complicated stuff, and you really cant do all of it yourself....because the head is getting ported and "polished" doesnt mean the air flow in each cylinder is going to operate the same, youll be suprised the difference in air flow each cylinder can have! think bout it, 1 cylinder will make more horsepower while the other will make less and create a "dragging" force...which results in loss in horses.

there is f**k all room for bigger valves you could get away waith 1mm bigger on both. but there is more then enough flow through a 41mm exhaust valve that there is no point in trying to squeez a 42mm one in there.
the intake you can realy only fit 1mm over size and it's a worth while effort while your doing it use valve with a 7mm stem there is flow to be had there aswell and the only extra cost over pre au valve is you need new valve guides. about $3 to $5 each.. have a tapper machined on the end of the valve that protrudes in the port or cut the end close to the port roof. all very basic things that can be done by some one with no porting expirience and at very little cost. |
