My ba ute has started useing s**t loads of fuel it is still running good with good idle.So i took it to an auto eleco to get it diognostic checked it cam up saying it was running to rich Crap i already know this so he got his book out and it said there could be like 20 things wong with it. it cost me 35.00 to find this out. i rang ford and they said there gizmo will ony do the same thing. any way the eleco dude told me that if you disconect the batt it wont remove the falt codes. so what do you have to do pay another 35.00 to do this or is there another way

Maybe look at replacing the O2 sensor, mine chewed a s**t load of fuel, 300 out of a full tank but after replacing it I'm getting 450's, doesn't cost to much either.

Is your cat blocked? They can f**k out but seem good on idle/low throttle, but no power when you give it. Give it a shake and listen for a rattle, could easily cause this problem. A mates SS did the same thing.

hey i know this is off topic, but i have an EB falcon xr6 and it uses alot of fuel too. i heard there quite bad on fuel anyway but is there anything i can do to reduce fuel usage without dropping any power?
(other then not putting my foot down )

(other then not putting my foot down ) Full service, best oil + filters, oxy sensor, clean injectors (properly), Subaru top end and intake cleaner (big fan), new exhaust system + headers (providing you drive it normal) should be better. |

Admittedly he does half this on the freeway, you should be near this with a clean setup. We bought it, changed all the regulars inc fuel filter, oxy sensor etc, cleaned the top end/intake and it runs awesome with 130km on the clock completely standard. He's a bit of a girl on the pedal though. |

on a trip i can get 800ks to a tank but not now im geting around 400 ive owned it for 12 months its had a new system put on new fuel filter o2 senser it now has 190.000ks on it it has just been the last couple of weeks its done this i even replaced 3 coil packs because thay had small hair line cracks on them.I forgot to mention with that 800ks that is towing a trailer loaded up and the ute loaded up to.

Maybe need an AFR check. See if its too rich. Any black smoke? Faulty IAT or coolant temp sensor may run it rich |

ok latest up dates got some of that top end cleaner ony made a little diffence i did find a bare wire to the driver side cam senser but havent tried it yet . do you think it could be thet air temp mapsenser under the throtle body.

ok i got it dionostic today came up saying it was running rich then lean.with some fault codes coolant sensor out of range he said it was an intermediate fault he stuck a o2 meter up its bum had it on rollers and took it to 80ks .when he first put it on there all the readings were good then it started to play up. he then took it and checked the fuel pressuer and it was way to high he said its a faulty regulater. what gets me was it cost 155.00 to find this out but i have not got one yet i just cleaned it out. still no change.
