very usefull things coolant level sensors....
whats happened with yours is the fload has rotted away enough for it to fill up with coolant, so it no longer does its job correctly

My EL Futura has the same problem :/ My coolant levels are about 2/3 the way between low and hi and the light comes on every now and then.

Sometimes they (coolant float) just get covered in crap, cleaning it usually fixes the problem

common problem, dont go removing the globe in your cluster or anything that dodgy as it is a good feature which could be VERY worthwhile having if something ever happens n ur coolant runs out (not hard to do really) id much rather replace a little sensor thats easy to get to than have my coolant leak out, cook the engine n cost me a bundle of cash!!
To remove sensor, drain some coolant till the tank looks empty, unscrew the white ring that holds the sensor in the right side of the tank, when out unplug the sensor from the loom and get some pliers to "pull" the sensor out. Dont worry aobut stuffing the plastic lug that holds it in there as chances are if ur sensor is stuffed it is prolly close to its used by date also; remove the sensor n replace with new one. the new sensor comes with the plastic/rubber ring that holds it in but not the screw in plastic ring that holds the thing in all the time; dont loose that. This would be an IDEAL time to get a new coolant tank n do a coolant flush btw, i did - looks/works like new.

Cheers Are you talking about the white plastic ring that screws into the tank that holds the sensor in tight? If so i used a pair of pliers (needle nose) n it worked no probs, if you cant get it it by doing that or if its somehow stuffed n jammed you might have to get a new tank/sensor/plastic sensor ring. Mine came out nice n easy n presumed that was the norm?

interesting, thanks for that.. Ill have to investigate.. I thought ford might have glued them in there, and then released a special tool that everyone has to buy , to remove them lol...
Cheers
