I bought a 97 EL Futura yesterday with a few minor problems. One of them is for some reason the Low Coolant light is constantly flashing although the coolant is full. Any ideas on why this could be happening?

the low coolant sensor in the side of the coolant tank has a float which shows when the level is low.
these deteriorate over time and get leaks( fill with water) this sinks the float and will light the low coolant light on the dash the sensor is still available from fords, same as the au falcon one, costs about $60 otherwise take a chance on another one from the wreckers or in the for sale threads here |

Thanks for the tip. I took the sensor out and it appears to be ok,no water in the float. I will still buy a new sensor anyways as the light will sometimes stayy off for a short while if I play around with it's wires.
Just another quick question, currently I start the car without having to press the keypad. I want to add a keypad to the car, I followed the directions in the technical documents. The car locks and unlocks indicating it's ready to accept new keypads however when I press the button nothing happens. I have tried it with the keypad I got with the car and also one of my own known working keypads. This also happens with my dads ef which also just starts with the key. Is there something I have to do first to activate smartlock/central locking? |

You can also just buy the float separate for around $9 from fraud. If there is no leaks it could have gunk on the magnet sensor.
