My fan on my ED does jack s**t, my car almost always overheats on a hot day. I have had my head done, thermostat replaced and im about to have the radiator checked in a couple of weeks. I think its the fan!

The last two days have been real stinkers in Adelaide, and have had the climate control working overtime whilst driving. My temp gauge seems to be hitting the upper end of the normla range, and the fan for the motor sounds like a turbine. I was told that I needed to get a "gel like" fluid injected into the clutch to fix this, at about $120.00
I think the electric fans might be a bit more reliable by the sounds of it.

FYI guys, thermos from an AU will NOT fit an e series without mods. From memory, they need to be fitted upside down, and a fair bit of the shroud cut away. Best thing to do is get a set from an ef/el, and wire them up. They will fit straight in. You can then use an aftermarket thermo switch to make them operate, or just wire them up to come on with the ignition.

Hmmmm it might be because there's quite an element of truth to it. If your engine is overheating AND the engine fan sounds like a boeing 747, you have some other serious issues. My old man's ED never, absolutely NEVER has gotten above the "O" on the "normal" mark. This includes towing an 1100kg ski boat on 40 degree days with the air conditioner on, in heavy traffic, with 5 of us fat cnuts onboard and a dozen slabs in the boat. |

Although I'd say its because he religiously changes all fluids and the fluid reseviour still looks brand new, even though its 11 years old.

Just fitted a set of EL fans to a V8 Capri. Fitted with just a small amount of shroud cover cut with a air saw. Not as large as the AU's. They work fine with the aftermarket switch. Does a better job than the craig davies ones that were on it. Go the EF/EL ones. ghiaman |

Yeah you can get the EL ones from www.ozeparts.com.au for $180 and they bolt straight in.
Then you can get a Davies Craig 0404 kit + another relay and get it workin sweet. |
