Hey guys

i recently got a stage 5 its motor put in and pacies and full exhaust. Now the exhaust shop didnt put in the heat shield. I havent driven the car on gas since i got the motor fitted cause i need a tune but now i wanna get the gas going again im just conrened about the converter as i felt the bastard after driving the other day and it was f**k hot as!!. do i need to get another heat shield or is it ok without cause the pacies look sweet!

the converter will get fairly hot, remember there is 100c coolant flowing through it.
if you can get a heat sheild in there, for just the converter if you wanna leave the pacie's exposed.

good idea. i'm having gas probs atm. ive gone through 2 gas cooling hoses (recently), they get weak and rupture.

from mem el's with tickford gas had a seperate heat shield just for the gas converter? if someone can conferm this for me i might get one.

yes the ticky setup in ef-el has a separate heat sheild for the gas converter.

this was removed on the au's as cost cutting and it does make a differnce to converter life, in ef it went through 2 converters over 900,000km's, the au has so far gone through 4 in the same amount of k's! (both taxi's)

I have had my AU since new with the tickford gas and mine has got the separate heat sheild for the gas converter! So they did not stop making the heat sheild for the AU 1 series.
