Hey,

im 16 and have had my 95 Ford Falcon Futura for just over 2weeks..
I have notice that 80bucks of petrol doesnt last that long, and im wondering is it really worth converting over to gas?

Are there any problems, anything i should know before getting this done?

Thanks

Ford's love gas. You wont have any problems. Wether its worth it or not is upto you. Gas isnt as cheap as it used to be and its only going to get more expensive as its not tax free anymore. Also the quality of the gas has dropped and will probobly continue dropping till its the same crap mix as the yanks.

Also there are huge waiting lists for conversions.

my 2c

i have gas, gas is fun, cheap as hell, great if your a hoon :)

i would suggest getting yourself a tank from a wrecker (for an ef/el) and then getting you conversion done with that and not waiting the 6months for a tank.

you should be laughing for cost over there as i believe the state gov is chipping in $1000 on top of lil johnny's $2000.

You also use more gas per kilometer than petrol.

yes thats entirely correct, i forgot about that, if you have 50L of gas (theoretically) and 50L of fuel, you would go through the gas ALOT quicker, these are all the things that have to be weighed up, unfortunately an extra 200kg tank in the back doesnt do much for fuel economy either, and gas is a little less performance as fuel, especially high octane fuels. Really when you think about it you dont save all the much cash in the short term, but in the long run you may see some kind of profit, if we all had to pay for the gas install (if we didnt have the government rebate) we would probably not really see any profit at all...

I have to disagree with the above. I have just got a basic OMVL system installed last week in the EF. Still needs to go back for it's 1000k tune. The only thing I have added is the Tickford Gas ECU. The trip I make often is 500k's or so return. Cost me $90 on petrol the last 20 or so times I've done the trip. First trip on gas cost me $37. I think that is a significant saving. My conversion cost me -$313 ie it cost me $1687 but I get $2000 back. Even if I only did minimal k's per year I am WAY infront.

But I have discarded my petrol tank and only have a 'small' 65l LPG tank, so I do have to fill up more often. I used to get aroung 500ks or so per tank of petrol and I get 380ks on LPG.

cheers
Scott

Out of curiosity, and FYI, I have not bought petrol for 20 (YES 20!!!!!) years. (except for my motorcycle :D )

Build your motors properly, AND YOUR IGNITION SYSTEMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,(which most ppl forget) and you have no probs.
