Hey guys im just wondering, when i bought the mont i was told on the description that it was lsd. I havent tested it (ie jack it up, spin the wheels iwhatever), but it always single spins. Today i was parked on the drive way half on the drive half on the grass. I was moving it onto the grass and i gave it a bit too much gas and spun the wheels, to my surprise it spun the left wheel! For the first time as far as i can remember, Any ideas???

If only the left wheel spun then its definitely single. Single spinner alway's spins the wheel with the least grip. If each wheel has equal grip then usually the drivers sife wheel spins. An easier way to check is to look at the rear of the diff and check the colour of the rubber plug. If its black then its single spinner. If its red then its LSD.

or check the tag on the diff?!?! rather than relying on the colour of a plug

Ahhh that clears things up a bit. Whenever i slide it around corners it spins the drivers side. I thought maybe if the diff was f***** it was just spinning one. Cheers mate

there is a couple of ways 2 check the diff 2 c if its a LSD, first u can get under the car and look at its tag.
second u can jack the car up, if u have a hydro jack then jack it up from the center of the diff, have it in nutral and the handbrake off and spin one wheel and if the other spins in the same direction then it is a LSD if it spins in the opposite direction then its not.
If u dont have a hydro jack and have ur FORD spare wheel jack that is fine, jack 1 side up and again have it in nutral and the handbrake off (oh and put a peace of wood 2 chock the front wheels) when the car is jacked up and the one wheels is off the ground try and spin it, if it spins no probs then it aint no LSD but if the car starts 2 move when u spin it the its a LSD.
But with this in mind LSD do have "brakin points" where it will not spin both wheels, the tighter the diff the higher the brakin point, standard falcon LSD's are good, but if u have it half on the grass and the road even if it is a LSD then it can still only spin 1 wheel if the pressure on the other wheel is 2 much.
But the easest way would be 2 look at the tag onthe diff.
Cheers

it depends as sum1 said b4 the EL or EF whateva has 3.45:1, 1 of my old mans cars is a 96 5.0L LTD and it has a LSD wit 3.23:1 ratio and my car has a 3.45 ratio. it all depends on the car, motor, yr model.
The new BF auto has 2.75 diff ratio but dependin on the car sum manuals have 3.45 and sum have 3.75:1 ratio
Cheers
