Hi all,
Problem is my main engine belt and another (not to sure) need replacing, also my accelerator cable is worn and the mechanic said he couldn't test the car after doing all the gaskets because of this (accel cable. and legal reasons...fair enough). well im getting all that fixed this wednesday and having to drive the VT . ill be stuffed if ill drive the eb and have accel cable snap on me while im drivin. Any way does this result in a loss of power to the ground? its just the ford seems to be running a bit sluggish not in the engine but just in getting the power to the ground it's odd. And while im here my mate just bought a vr 5L auto very stock, im thinking of getting a cam in soon (probably stage 2), very soon, how do you think i'll go? the engine is still running strong and iv'e had basicially everything fixed bar the above and a wearing away ball joint but other than that its great. but if thats not good enough what else will i need to do? the worst thing that could happen to him is if he got beaten by a ford 6 lol

If part of your accelerator cables outer casing is broken away, the inner cable affectively becomes longer therefore the throttle will not be fully opened, when foot is hard on the floor.
You can test this quite easily. With engine off, have assistant press accelerator pedal to floor while you watch linkage on throttle body. With pedal all the way down throttle should be fully open.
