Hey guys, just wondering if there is a way of making the thermo's come on full manually ?
ive been running the car for about 1 month with them on full at all times, and the car ran very nicely staying cool at all times even in 40degree heat in traffic. just got my j3 chip so now the thermo's are running normally and i can already notice its heating up more. |

You could run a switch from the dash to a relay. When then relay is operated it cuts the feed from the temp sensor and feed battery straight to fans so the run constantly. This way you have the best of both worlds. When it cooler fans run on sensor, when hot a flick of the switch keeps the fans running to keep car cooler.

maybe see if a lower temp can be programed into the j3 so the fans come on earlier??

apparently the j3 can't control thermo's
i might try getting a net set of relays as i don't think they're working properly, the fans only ever come on full if i have the a/c on.. anyone got instructions on wiring a manual switch ? |

Hmm, i believe the air con actually uses a radiator which is connected to the cooling system.
Sounds like a wiring problem, short etc :S See an auto elec if it getting too hot

what i meant was as soon as the a/c is turned off the fans come on full no matter the ambient temp..and the speed there running when the a/c is on, is what i want when it gets abit hotter..

as you know. the ecu controls when the fans come on full speed.
and the when you turn the aircon on it activates the thermo fans via the ecu. if you want them to come on when you want. it might be easier to add a thermal switch and bypass the trigger wires from the ecu with a trigger from the thermal switch..?? |

troymans right, for adjustability and reliability you can't go past a good quality standalone variable switch with probe with an added manual over-ride.

there is a way you can controll the temp from inside the car and make them come on at your own temp settings, i think super cheap sell the set for 150 bucks
basically you have a digital read out screen where the radio sits, also a box in the engine bay for the thermos if any one is interested i could grabs some snaps tommoro

or you could just run a thermo kit with a variable switch with extended wiring to mount it in the cabin... i like my radio and hate w4nker gadgets so doesn't sound like a great investment for me.
