Hi All,
I am contemplating the Auto to manual conversion for my ef Fairmont, and i have a few questions before i get my mind set, 1. is it possible to use the j3 chip instead of swapping over ecu's, and what would i need in the way of wireing looms, as in use the manual or auto 2. being a fairmont, it has cruise control, how do you add the clutch into the cruise control. i have read voxace's doco, fordmods-technical-documents-diy-f38/auto-to-manual-conversion-guide-t42420.html which was very helpful, but if anyone could help me with these things, it would be much appreciated thanks, Charlie.

1. Yes you can use a J3 chip with a manual tune. In terms of wiring you shouldn't need to touch anything. Depending on your gearbox you may need to short the neutral switch wires.
2. To add the clutch to cruise control requires a cruise control clutch switch. What this does is that if you are in cruise control, it will switch cruise control off if you push the clutch in. If you don't have this it will rev real high when the clutch is in. Not a real biggy if you know that you don't have a switch. You can obtain this from the wreckers or make your own and you will be able to see where it is meant to go on your pedal box at the top of your clutch pedal.

oh awsome thanks mate! is it worth buying one of those reco'd gearboxes off ebay? or better off just getting the whole kit from a wrecker and not being bothered about it?
with the j3 chip i just wasnt sure as to if the wireing loom off a auto gearbox would be the same as one of a manual gearbox (i know they are different for my rx thats all)
