the hose off the map sensor came off bout fortnight ago.none of the other hoses have come off. quick fix ,but the car has still been idling as rough as my sisters C*** and blowing alot of carbon also when just revving up abit black watery junk is blowing out as well. to make things worse engine is making a knocking noise upon start up and when im driving and take my foot off the accelerator it makes the noise then.
any ideas what it could be or time for engine rebuild

ive got same problem(carbon watery s**t coming out of exhaust, and my car is also running extremely rich 20l/100km
ive done 236,000km and it aint eating radiator fluid tho and no water in oil so cant be head gasket and its been doing this for 10,000kms or so. 1636 wade cam also. edit: just checked map sensor and its got the hose connect and also connected fine on inlet manifold and all wiring is still plugged in. |

Same problem with 98 el with carbon and a little watery s**t when u rev after 1 min idle.
No noises tho like that. 145000on clock but i think its done lots of idling so k's dont always mean everything. Runs smooth with just a slight hint of roughness comming into idle. New ignition system, battery, plugs, leads, dizzy, airbox (smashed from backfire), heater hoses(blown hose lead to catastrofic failure of cooling system) and vacuum hoses etc. More to come im sure |

try another map sensor maybe?...and i think the watery s**t is just moisture thats in your exaust..the blackness will be build up of s**t thats in any exaust..my car still has factory ebxr exaust,2 huge mufflers and the rear muffler,i get the same water etc till warm.nuffin major..

chaeck that the map sensor hose isnt split any where. i was going over mine on luch break and it had a small spilt in it quick fix with some elec tape for now. i also put new plugs in just then and its running sweey as but still getting black junk outta exhaust so i might get one of those carbon cleaners that you chuck in the fuel. et racing racing is the brand its like 17 bucks

I Have taken the Hose off the Map Sensor totally and it alot worse.
if there is a small leak in the hose will i have a small problem with my idle as apposed to no hose worse idle. if that makes sense |

ok just got my hose off and it didnt have a single crack split or nick in it, replaced it regardless as a new one was $3.
also replaced my thermostat thingo that opens up at warmer temps and so far so good no steam or carbon coming out of exhaust unless u squeeze the map sensor hose (2 man job) the hose is a b**ch to get back on and i think i almost broke my arm when i got stuck and had to rip my arm out from there hahah |
